QUOTING KIRK FERENTZ

“Really happy for our football team. A really good way to start November.

Going back to the beginning of the week, we asked our players to reset, refocus and turn their sights on this game, and I think they did a really good job all week long in preparation. They really worked hard at that, and the coaches did a great job giving them a good plan.

Coming in here, Big Ten road game, nighttime, new environment, new stadium, and most importantly playing against a really good team. We knew that was going to be a challenge, and I’m just really happy with the way the guys responded. We got off to a really positive start.

I think we did a lot of really good things out there. We saw some good action and good responses. Certainly pleased. We get a 14-0 lead, they come back and get some points, and then the kick return. That’s the second time this year Braeden has done that. He did a really good job and got really good blocking. That was a good answer right there. Then seeing Caden make that field goal too, that was a really good field goal.

All in all, just really pleased for our players. Pleased with what they did, the way they played and the way they competed. We’ll enjoy this one for about 12 hours and then turn our sights forward.

Lastly, I just want to compliment our fans. In the second half, it felt like Kinnick East. Our fans stayed right to the end and were really enthusiastic. We appreciate our Iowa fans being here and supporting the team.”
