

BOONE, Iowa—As expected, the heavy rain last week, from the end of September into the beginning of October took care of almost all the dry conditions in Iowa. Slightly less that 1.5% is considered to be Abnormally Dry and most of that is in Kossuth County. Locally, the rain Thursday evening into Friday morning did stop harvest activity. Varying amounts of precipitation were reported with the official amount from the Boone Water Environment Station at .98″. Other reports from northern Boone County exceeded 3″ with hail.
