Warford Street between First Avenue and Second Street and Second Street between Warford and Lucinda streets will reopen Sunday, Oct. 11 to motor vehicle traffic, the city of Perry announced Wednesday.

Pedestrian walkways will be accessible on the west side of Second Street and the north side of Warford Street.

Pavement removal on Warford Street between Second and Third streets is expected to start Monday, Oct. 12, the city said, followed by utility removal and replacement.

Once utility replacement is complete, workers will construct new curbs and gutters, new pavement, permeable-paver parking areas and sidewalks.

Pedestrian access to all businesses will be maintained during construction, and access to the drive-up teller lanes at the local bank will be coordinated during this phase of the project, the city said.

If construction cannot be completed before winter, the roadway will be reopened to motor vehicle traffic and pedestrian access, with remaining construction completed in 2027.

“Downtown events will be accommodated and coordinated for best routes and accessibility,” the city said.
