Flash flooding will be a threat as we head into the weekend.
A Flood Watch is in effect for a small portion of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois. The greatest threat would be from 1 am to 7 pm on Saturday.
The National Weather Service says heavy rainfall with repeating rounds of thunderstorms will result in 1 to 3 inches of rainfall, with localized higher amounts near 3 to 5 inches possible (10-20%).
This could flood roads, low-lying areas, fields, and basements, and cause rapid stream/creek rises. Any urban areas, locations with poor drainage, or areas that recently had heavy rain are at increased risk for flash flooding.
The NWS forecast is calling for drier weather by Tuesday and through the rest of next week.
