A New York City man has been charged with grooming and enticing a minor in Delaware County.
The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says an undercover deputy, posing as a 15-year old male, was contacted by 60-year old Dean Edward Deutmeyer of New York, NY through a dating application.
According to the Complaint and Affidavit filed by the Sheriff’s Office with the Clerk of Court, Deutmeyer allegedly sent a photo depicting his genitalia and an audio recording with him wanting to commit a sex act before being informed of the undercover deputy’s purported age. After the undercover deputy disclosed that he was 15 years old, Deutmeyer continued to engage in conversations with him through the dating app. Throughout these communications, Deutmeyer commented on his penis size and other sexual content. During these communications, Deutmeyer agreed to meet the undercover deputy at a previously disclosed location. When discussing the purpose of the meeting, Deutmeyer stated that he intended to speak with the undercover deputy about relationships and being gay. The communications allegedly continued after Deutmeyer had been made aware of the undercover deputy’s represented age.
The Sheriff’s Office says Deutmeyer was taken into custody on Thursday morning, September 10th along East Marion Street in Manchester. While being detained, Deutmeyer refused multiple commands by deputies to sit inside the squad car. He also refused to provide ID at the scene. During the interview, Deutmeyer continued to refuse to identify himself for the majority of the interrogation.
He has been charged with Enticing a Minor Under 16 – Sexual Purpose, Grooming and Interference with Official Acts.
