Today is September 25th (9-2-5) – also known as “Give Like Dolly Day” as a playful nod to her hit song and movie “9 to 5”.
It’s the first annual day of giving established by The Dollywood Foundation following Dolly’s passing a month ago today – it celebrates Dolly Parton’s legacy of generosity and supports her Imagination Library program.
Dolly’s Imagination Library operates through more than 2,700 community partner programs. And Dyersville is hoping to be one of them soon. Jessica Pape is the Campaign Coordinator for the Dyersville Campaign for Grade-Level Reading.
Inspired by her father’s inability to read and write, Dolly started her Imagination Library in 1995 for the children within her home county. Today, her program spans five countries and gifts millions of free books each month to children around the world.
Pape says you can help Dyersville reach their goal of launching an Imagination Library during an online fundraiser taking place today.
The Dyersville Campaign for Grade-Level Reading has set a high goal of $15,000 to fund their cause for the first few years – but in honor of Give Like Dolly Day, they’re hoping to reach $19,250.
