A transient has been arrested on weapons and drug charges after a Saturday night traffic stop in Coralville.
Coralville Police pulled over a 2013 Chevy Silverado being driven by 32-year-old Jahmil Thomas on the 2300 block of 2nd Street just before 9:30.
A search of Thomas’ car reportedly turned up two packages of a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana and a handgun under the driver’s seat. He allegedly admitted the items were his.
Thomas…who lists his address as Shelter House in Iowa City…is charged with Person Ineligible to Possess Dangerous Weans and Possession of Marijuana – 3rd or Subsequent Offense. If convicted on both counts, he faces a maximum of three years in jail.
