Perry man arrested for allegedly downloading child pornography

A Perry man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Wednesday in connection with incidents earlier this year in which he allegedly downloaded child pornography from the internet.

Jeffrey Allen Hidlebaugh, 42, of 1317 Estella St., Perry, was charged with purchasing/possessing a medium depicting the exploitation of a minor.

A search warrant was sought in April by a detective with the Urbandale Police Department’s Criminal Investigative Division who is part of the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The application for the warrant said there was “probable cause to believe” Hidlebaugh was “using a computer device, connected to the Internet, to download child pornography,” according to court records.

The warrant was executed April 30 at Hidlebaugh’s Perry residence. Computers and cell phones were seized, according to court records.

Hidlebaugh is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $50,000 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
