FAIRFAX, Iowa (KCRG) – An investigation is underway in Linn County after a police pursuit ended in a deadly crash Saturday night. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation at Williams Boulevard and East Southview Road in Fairfax at 9:13 p.m. on Saturday, August 8. The driver refused to pull over and led the deputy on a pursuit. The pursuit went southbound on Lefebure Road. According to deputies, the vehicle failed to negotiate a T-intersection with Wright Brothers Boulevard, left the road, and came to rest in the south ditch. Emergency responders performed life-saving measures, but the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver’s name is being withheld pending notification of family. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the incident.
DUBUQUE COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – Two were killed in a Saturday night accident between a UTV and car in rural Dubuque County. Five others are in the hospital with what the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office calls severe to life threatening injuries. At about 9:21 p.m., officers were called to a scene east of Worthington at the intersection of East Worthington Road and Comer Road. When first responders made it to the scene, one person was found dead and six others were taken to the hospital for serious injuries. One of those six was pronounced dead at the hospital. The situation is under investigation.
DELAWARE COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – The Iowa State Patrol said one person is dead and two people are hurt after a crash in Delaware County early Saturday morning. ISP said a Toyota Prius and a Honda CRV were parked in the eastbound shoulder of Highway 20 at mile marker 286 around 2:00 am Saturday when a Chevy Equinox hit both cars and the driver of the CRV. A 24-year-old from Dubuque died in the incident. Two others were hurt and taken to local hospitals. Names of the victims are being withheld at this time. The accident is under investigation.
BLACK HAWK COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – A driver was hospitalized Friday night after a rollover crash on Highway 218 in Black Hawk County. First responders were called to Highway 218 near mile marker 193 around 9:25 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of a crash. According to the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder swerved to avoid a slower-moving vehicle, lost control, and rolled over. The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was taken to a local hospital. Deputies say the driver’s injuries are not life-threatening.
