An Iowa City woman wanted for keeping her residence for the use of controlled substances was arrested Wednesday evening, and authorities reportedly found drug paraphernalia on her person.
On August 8th, police were called to the South Lucas Street residence of 57-year-old Aimee Donnelly on reports of a woman screaming in distress. The noise was coming from inside the residence, and Donnelly reportedly let officers inside. A domestic dispute was apparently going on between Donnelly and another individual.
A search of the premises allegedly discovered psychedelic mushrooms, a digital scale and suspected drug paraphernalia in the bedroom.
After being read her rights, Donnelly reportedly admitted that the mushrooms belonged to her, and that the other half of the domestic was a heroin user. She also stated that people come and go from the residence to party.
The drugs and Donnelly’s cell phone were seized, and a search warrant on the phone allegedly discovered photos, messages and information related to the use, distribution and acquisition of controlled substances.
A warrant was issued Monday. Donnelly was located Wednesday night and taken into custody. A search incident to arrest reportedly found a glass pipe containing burnt residue.
Donnelly has been charged with a Controlled Substance violation, Failure to Affix Drug Stamp, Keeping Premises for Controlled Substances, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on all counts, she could be sentenced to over 17 years in prison.
