The Delaware County Emergency Management Agency is finalizing its Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan.
The plan evaluates the risks and vulnerabilities associated with natural and human-caused hazards that may affect Delaware County, participating cities, and participating school districts. It also identifies mitigation actions intended to reduce risk, strengthen community resilience, and protect lives, property, infrastructure, agriculture, natural resources, and community assets. The planning area includes unincorporated Delaware County, as well as the cities of Colesburg, Delaware, Delhi, Dundee, Earlville, Edgewood, Greeley, Hopkinton, Manchester, Masonville, and Ryan. It also includes the school districts of Ed-Co, Maquoketa Valley and West Delaware, as well as St. Mary’s School.
You’re welcome to review the plan and comment on it. The draft of the Delaware County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan is available for public and partner review. You can find the draft plan and public comment form HERE.
Residents, businesses, agricultural producers, community organizations, school representatives, and other interested parties are encouraged to review the plan and provide comments, corrections, or questions through the public review form – or by calling the Emergency Management office at 927-3723.
Delaware County Emergency Management will then submit the plan to the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Department and the FEMA for review and approval.
