A Coralville man who hit a Linn County deputy’s vehicle head on while intoxicated earlier this year has been sentenced.
KCRG TV reports 69-year-old Scott Rohwedder was given 30 days in prison and two years probation after pleading guilty to an OWI charge. As part of the plea deal, other charges were dismissed.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Rohwedder was heading westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 100 in a 2003 Dodge Dakota at approximately 7:45pm February 4th. The deputy attempted to stop Rohwedder, but they ended up striking head-on while on the Highway 100 bridge over the Cedar River.
Rohwedder was taken by ambulance to Mercy Cedar Rapids for treatment of his injuries. His blood-alcohol level was reportedly measured at .231 at the time of the incident.
Rohwedder has faced three OWI charges dating back to 1999.
