One Injured in Delaware County Collision

One person was injured in a collision in Delaware County on Tuesday morning.

According to the accident report provided by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Reth of Manchester was driving his semi trailer northbound on Jefferson Road around 9 am when a maintenance/construction truck pulled onto the road.

The Sheriff’s Office says the truck was parked “stagging” alongside the roadway to enter a job site. Upon getting the go-ahead, the truck made a left-hand turn into the path of the semi trailer. The semi trailer attempted to swerve to avoid hitting the truck, but the two collided, with the semi trailer entering the ditch.

Reth was extricated from his vehicle by non-mechanical means and transported to Regional Medical Center with possible injuries. The truck driver, David Hermsen of Dyersville, was not hurt.
