It didn’t take long for the failed negotiations between the US and Iran to affect gas prices.
The latest GasBuddy survey of over 2000 stations in Iowa found the average price for a gallon of gas jumping by 19 cents to $3.69. That’s still 2.7 cents lower than a month ago, but nearly 74 cents higher than a year ago at this time.
Nationally, the average price jumped 10.3 cents to $3.82 per gallon.
Head of Petroleum Analysis at Gas Buddy, Patrick DeHaan, said it’s the first weekly increase since May 11th, and comes as oil prices have surged following the collapse of the US/Iran ceasefire. He says additional increases could come in the week ahead.
