
POET Bioprocessing – Fairbank awarded 2026 Community Impact Grants to four local organizations this year that are planning projects to address ongoing care, recreation, and education for area residents.
This year’s grants totaled $11,000, awarded to the following organizations:
- Americans for Independent Living: $2,500 to support the operation of their two transitional houses, ensuring seven homeless veterans at a time have a safe place to live while they work toward independence.
- Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Buchanan County: $500 to cover or subsidize 4-H enrollment fees for Buchanan County youth.
- Fayette County Extension: $4,000 to help establish a permanent Fayette County 4-H building on the Fayette County Fairgrounds in West Union, Iowa.
- Backbone Concessions LLC: $4,000 to support hosting events, including movies and school-aged STEAM summer camps.
The POET Community Impact Grant is a one-time grant, designed to support local nonprofits, schools, churches, earth-friendly groups, and individuals committed to leading projects that will benefit their communities.
