Gas prices continue to drop in Iowa and across the nation.

Gas Buddy’s survey of over 2000 stations shows the average price in Iowa is now $3.54 a gallon. That’s a little over 16 cents lower than a week ago, and over 67 less than a month ago. The price remains over 49 cents higher than it was a year ago.

The national average is down a little over 14 cents, to $3.85 a gallon, still over 67 cents higher than a year ago at this time.

Patrick De Haan, the head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, says diesel prices are also dropping. He added that although there is uncertainty in the peace negotiations with Iran, gas prices are not at a significant risk of a spike, but didn’t rule out the possibility of price hikes if the situation worsens or escalates.
