A Cedar Rapids man was allegedly caught drinking from a full wine bottle by Iowa City Police on the Ped Mall.
The arresting officer reports seeing 19-year-old Ryan Beckmann of Oak Valley Drive drinking from the bottle while sitting in front of Hawkeye Smoke & Liquor on East College Street just before 12:15 Sunday morning. When told by an officer to stand up, he reportedly tried to run. Beckmann was caught, and police say he provided them with a fake Michigan driver’s license and had a THC vape pen in his pocket.
Beckmann is charged with Public Intoxication, Providing False Identity Information, Possession of a Fake ID, Possession of Marijuana, and Interference With Official Acts. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of 27 months in jail.
