The Grant County Sheriff’s Department has released details of a three vehicle accident Thursday afternoon on Highway 35/61 just north of Potosi that blocked northbound traffic for about two-and-a-half hours.
Authorities say a van driven by 35-year old William Murray of Lancaster was traveling south when he went over the crest of the hill and didn’t realize a tractor hauling a spreader was traveling at a slower speed in front of him and collided. After he hit the spreader, the vehicle bounced into the northbound lanes and into an oncoming northbound semi-truck. The van came to rest on its driver’s side, blocking both northbound lanes and the semitrailer ended up in the ditch with the semi blocking northbound traffic. Murray reported minor injuries and was evaluated on scene. There were no other injuries. The Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the accident.
