An early Christmas morning car crash on Iowa City’s east side caused damage to a fire hydrant, a stop sign, and several small trees.

Iowa City Police responded to a 2005 Toyota Prius that crashed on the 4300 block of East Court Street just before 2am Saturday. The driver, identified as 22-year-old Olivia Kellicut of Taft Avenue, allegedly showed signs of impairment, admitted to drinking, and registered a breath alcohol level of .245%.

Nearby residents shared photos with KCJJ showing that the crash sheared off a fire hydrant, bent a stop sign pole, and knocked down or damaged several trees.

Kellicut was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated. No injuries were reported.
