Iowa Department of Health officials have identified a possible exposure to measles in the state.
The Gazette reports people at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage may have been exposed to measles Thursday October 29th between 9:45am and 1pm, and Friday October 30th from 10:55am to 2:15pm.
Iowa’s Department of Health and Human Services say more cases may develop in the future due to elevated measles activity in the area, including an ongoing outbreak in southwestern Wisconsin.
Officials report 50 cases on measles in Iowa so far this year, five times what the state experienced a year ago. 95% of the cases have occurred in unvaccinated people.
As of October 30th, the Centers for Disease Control say over 4850 cases of measles have been confirmed across the country, compared to 2289 cases reported in all of 2025.
