The president of Mesabi Metallics, the company planning a multi-billion dollar steel mill in Lee County, spoke at the county’s Board of Supervisors meeting this week.

KCRG TV reports Joe Broking said the plant intends to being product down from their Minnesota mine and melt and pour it in Iowa. He added that the plant will benefit area schools, grow the population, and boost the economy.

Broking also admitted that they’ll pull water from the Mississippi and other resources, but said that the water will cleaner when they’re done with it than when they first got it.

The company plans to hold more meetings in Lee County as it moves the project forward.
