Three people injured in one-car accident near Mt. Vernon

Three people were injured in a Saturday morning traffic accident near Mt. Vernon.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office reports that just after 11:15 a.m., first-responders were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash with injuries on Martelle Road west of Springville Road, between Mt. Vernon and Springville.

Arriving emergency crews found a Ford Escape in the west ditch with three passengers, identified as 21-year-old Heather Burrow of Monticello, 19-year-old Lucas Brooks of Agency, and 18-year-old Joanna Patterson of Monticello.

An investigation determined Patterson was driving westbound when she failed to negotiate the southerly bend in the road and drove into the ditch. All three occupants were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
