Johnson County Emergency Management issued an in-game warning Saturday afternoon about flying drones near Kinnick Stadium.
With the Hawkeyes leading 20-0 with 13:22 remaining in the third quarter, users of the JoCo Iowa Ready app received a push notification that read, “Drones are prohibited in the area of Kinnick Stadium during all home games. Drone seizures occur when this restriction is violated.
It is unknown why the warning was issued as a push alert two hours into the game, as opposed to prior to kickoff or in the days leading up to the event. There has been no indication if a prohibited drone was sighted on Saturday.
