An Iowa City paramedic who was an ambulance driver for the pediatric unit of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is facing child pornography charges.
The Gazette reports 24-year-old Kanrry Kang was had two Gmail accounts and two different devices containing 50 images and 10 videos depicting minors. Police say of the media, some were toddlers, and some were bondage.
Iowa City Police say they received a tip through the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children online portal from Google. They say four images were uploaded between May and November 2025. The images were reportedly uploaded by King, who worked for Midwest Medical Transport, a company that has a contract with UIHC for ambulance service.
The detective assigned to the case, Tiffany Lord, said she received data from Kang’s Google account that included images of Kang’s driver’s license, Social Security card, and the images that were part of the original tip investigated by police.
Lord reportedly interviewed Kang, who allegedly acknowledged possessing the images of children and said that he seldom looked at adult porn.
A warrant was issued April 27th; Kang was served the next day. He’s been charged with 5 counts of felony possession of items depicting sex acts with a minor and faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted on all counts. He has pleaded not guilty, and a case management conference is scheduled for this Monday.
