The four finalists selected to run the University of Iowa’s Center for Intellectual Freedom are scheduled to come to Iowa City and visit with the Board of Regents this month.
The Gazette reports their names haven’t been and won’t be made public due to their request to remain anonymous during the selection process.
Interim director Luciano de Castro has complained about the lack of university and regent support, weak student interest in the center’s inaugural courses, and infighting that resulted in a mass resignation of the center’s advisory council.
The candidates are scheduled to visit campus on October 20th, but won’t participate in any public forum. Their names will remain confidential, and only the name of the candidate appointed will be announced after the hire.
After the mass resignation, de Castro fell out of the running and was not advanced to the final four.
