The City of Coralville has contracted with CIT Sewer Solutions to clean and inspect sections of the City’s sanitary sewers with a remote camera this fall. Work is expected to begin on Monday and take two to three weeks to complete, weather permitting.
The targeted area is general and not specific. Residents who may be affected will receive a door hanger. The door hangers will provide a two-day notice. The work will not impact the use of the City’s main sanitary sewer.
Crews clean sanitary sewers as a preventative maintenance measure, and use a remote camera to inspect the sewer lines and help assess the overall condition of the sanitary sewer. Cleaning the sanitary sewers helps remove materials in the pipes such as grease, tree roots, and debris. It also helps remove other material that doesn’t belong in the sewer, such as disposal wipes.
Crews will be working mostly on weekdays; sanitary sewer cleaning in high traffic areas and bus routes will occur between 12:00 am and 6:00 am:
