A deal has been reached in the case of an Iowa City woman accused of assaulting her son with a fan.

41-year-old Tyhkisa Jamison was allegedly involved in two different incidents on August 28th. The first was just before 11:45 a.m., when she reportedly broke a window at her boyfriend’s grandmother’s Van Buren Street apartment. The grandson said Jamison would have assaulted the woman if she had been home.

Just after 1:15 that afternoon Jamison allegedly pulled her son’s hair, scratched his arms, and hit him with a broken fan. The two live together at an apartment on Lakeside Drive.
Jamison was also wanted for a June 9th incident where she allegedly ran at a person while holding an improvised weapon above her head in a threatening manner on Dickenson Lane.

Jamison was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury, Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, and 5th Degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted on all counts, she would have faced a maximum of 37 months in jail.

On Friday, Jamison entered a plea deal, and the domestic abuse charge has been replaced with a charge of 1st Degree Attempted Burglary. Judge Kevin McKeever set a sentencing hearing for November 30th.
