An Iowa City transient was arrested after allegedly stealing a mountain bike from a residence.
Police say 49-year-old Louis Church, who has two theft convictions from earlier this year, had stolen an electric 5th-wheel mountain bike from Westgate Street just before 3:15am October 20th. He was allegedly observed on camera taking the bike and leaving the area, walking the bike east on Benton Street.
Officers detained Church and booked him into the Johnson County Jail at around 5am. He was charged with 3rd degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison term of up to two years if convicted.
