A University of Iowa student almost avoided arrest when he allegedly urinated next to a public port-a-potty instead of in it.

Iowa City Police say they observed a 20-year-old from Marshalltown urinating in front of a dumpster next to the port-a-potty in the alley next to the Sports Column just after 1:30 Saturday morning. The student allegedly claimed he was not drunk despite showing signs of intoxication. He refused breath testing, and a search of his person reportedly turned up a fake ID.

The student is now charged with Public Intoxication, Possession of a Fake ID, and Public Urination. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of 13 months in jail.
