A SUV collided with a school bus in Clayton County on Friday morning.
The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office says it happened shortly after 7:15 am in rural Garnavillo on King Road near the intersection of Ivory Road.
A preliminary investigation of the crash indicates that the driver of the SUV drove left of center, causing a head-on collision with a MFL Mar-Mac school bus. The driver of the bus and the four students aboard at the time of the crash were medically evaluated on the scene and released.
The driver of the SUV was transported to Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and ultimately airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
The crash remains under investigation by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, and further details will be released as they become available.
The names of those involved are not being released at this time, and family members have been notified.
