Atlantic opened the season at Glenwood Friday night, falling 63-48. The Rams were a tough opponent for the Trojans and they started off hot by scoring on their first two drives. The Trojans got right back into the game with back to back kick returns. The first was by senior Ethan McNeal for about 90 yards. The second return was from Benton McLaren. The Trojan offense struggled to get things started but everything started to click for them when James Brauer threw a touchdown pass to Zander Killion to give them their first offensive touchdown of the game. The defense started off hot in the 2nd half with an interception by Killion and multiple forced fumbles. Brauer had 19 passing yards on the night while McNeal had 68 rushing yards. Killion was on fire as a receiver with 82 yards to end the game. Carter Hadley led the defense with 11 tackles. Atlantic Coach Joe Brummer said his team had to adapt to the huge line of the Rams.
Brummer also gives a shout out to the special teams for the two kick returns.
Brummer was happy with how the Trojans played.
The Trojans will look to bounce back on Friday, September 4th at 7:00 pm as they open the home schedule hosting Denison-Schleswig at the Trojan Bowl. We’ll have live coverage of the game on KJAN TV.
