Altoona man allegedly assaults De Soto man, De Soto cops

An Altoona man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly assaulting a De Soto man and officers of the De Soto Police Department.

Randy Paul Hofer, 45, of 623 17th Ave. N.W., Altoona, was charged with assault, assault on persons in certain occupations and interference with official acts.

The incident began about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at a residence in the 600 block of Polk Street in De Soto, where officers of the De Soto Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Hofer allegedly “struck him in the stomach with his fist,” and “it was hard to breathe,” according to court records.

Hoffer allegedly “became physically aggressive with officers” when they tried to arrest him, and “officers were struck in the face and legs” when Hofer began “swinging and kicking his arms,” according to court records,

Hofer is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,600 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 27 in Dallas County District Court.
