A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a suspect who police say was driving drunk with a dependent adult in his car.
59-year-old William Perigo of Paris, Tennessee was arrested in the parking lot of Fast Break on Naples Avenue around 7:00 on the morning of April 25th. Perigo was allegedly sleeping in a 2025 Chevy Colorado with the driver’s side door open and Perigo passed out with three open beer bottles on his lap. Once awakened, Perigo allegedly admitted to drinking in conjunction with taking several prescription medications.
A passenger inside the vehicle was identified as a dependent adult in Perigo’s care who is non-verbal and suffering from multiple illnesses. The passenger was taken to a local hospital for further care. Perigo was arrested and charged with Neglect of a Dependent Adult, Operating While Intoxicated – 3rd or Subsequent Offense, Driving Without a Valid License, and Having an Open Container of Alcohol Inside a Motor Vehicle. If convicted on all counts, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
Online records show Perigo failed to appear at his arraignment on Friday, and a warrant for his arrest was issued by Judge Ian Thornhill.
