DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Northeast Iowa Council, Scouting America, is proud to announce it has reached nearly 70% of its $2 million campaign goal, securing more than $1.3 million to strengthen Scouting programs and opportunities for youth throughout Northeast Iowa.

Thanks to the generosity of community leaders, alumni, families, businesses, and friends of Scouting, the campaign is well on its way to ensuring future generations have access to experiences that build character, leadership, citizenship, and confidence.

“This milestone reflects the tremendous belief our community has in the impact of Scouting,” said Carl Bobis, Scout Executive and CEO of the Northeast Iowa Council. “Every gift is an investment in the next generation of leaders. We are grateful for the support received so far and excited to invite the community to help us reach the finish line.”

Last Saturday, the Council launched the public portion of the campaign at Camp Klaus in Colesburg.  The event included a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new waterfront classroom and changing room and recognition of the following major campaign donors:

  • Andy & Debi Butler
  • Keith Cook
  • Mark Falb
  • Flynn Family Foundation
  • Tom & Jane Flynn
  • Munter Foundation
  • Matt & Kristi Tompkins
  • Jack & Mantea Schmid
  • Nancy & Ron Wartick

Campaign funds will support:
• Enhanced youth programs and experiences
• Expanded outreach to underserved communities
• Improvements to camps and outdoor facilities
• Long-term sustainability of Scouting across Northeast Iowa

The campaign’s momentum has been fueled by leadership gifts from individuals, families, businesses, and foundations who recognize the lasting value of Scouting.

“We’ve seen remarkable enthusiasm from supporters who understand the impact Scouting has on young people and our communities,” said Campaign Chair Matt Tompkins. “Reaching 70% is an important achievement, but we still need the community’s help to complete this vision.”

Community members can support the campaign through individual gifts, corporate sponsorships, foundation support, volunteer service, and planned giving opportunities.
