A Linn County man was taken into custody after allegedly yelling at a University Heights police officer.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:39 am Thursday near the intersection of Melrose and Sunset Streets. The officer reported 36-year-old Anthony Awoleye of Ely yelled at him as he was driving by.
Upon contact, Awoleye continuously raised his voice in a public area in the vicinity of occupied residences. He allegedly had the odor of ingested alcohol and had an open container of alcohol on his person.
Awoleye was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Public Intoxication and faces up to 60 days in jail if convicted on both counts. He was released on his own recognizance, and a non-jury trial was scheduled for December 5th.
