Allete Clean Energy, out of Minnesota, updated the Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday on its plan to replace 259 existing wind turbines and add 44 new energy-efficient turbines in the county.
Allete representatives said due to economic uncertainties, 2027 will likely be the “build” year for the project, which they previously planned for next year. The turbines are expected to become operational in the same year as construction. Allete is working on a special-use permit, which they hope to complete in May. Allete is working through permit prerequisites.
Allete will keep the supervisors and landowners informed as the timeline becomes more clear.
