One of the most impactful players on Iowa’s roster in 2024 was a walk-on. Kaden Wetjen only had seven touches on the offensive side of the ball. But on special teams Wetjen left his mark an All-American level.
Wetjen led the entire country in kick return yards with 727 and amassed over 1,000 total return yards on the season. He capped off his campaign by taking out a kick return in the first half of the Music City and taking it the full length of the field for a 100-yard score.
“We weren’t expecting to have any returns, that was a shock to start.” Wetjen said. “There was a huge hole they gave me a crease. Lutmer was at the 50-yard line when I popped through, give them all the credit.”
Iowa’s star returner said he’s most likely going to return for his 5th season. He’s also more than likely played his final game without a scholarship.
