A Newton woman accused of stealing two rent checks in January that were payable to Hunter’s Run Apartments, was sentenced this week. Newton Police charged 27 year old Baylee Sue Loupee with two counts of Forgery. Court papers show she pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of 4th Degree Theft, while the other Forgery Count was dismissed. According to the arrest report, an employee of Capstone notified Newton Police on January 24th…that rent checks for two clients had been cashed by Loupee. The checks were written out January 3rd and were for 290 and 362-dollars. Police said the back of both checks were endorsed “Pay to the order of Baylee Loupee”. Loupee was not an employee of Hunters Run and did not have permission to cash or deposit the checks. At the time of her arrest in February…officers said she confessed to depositing the check money into her account. Her sentence from District Associate judge Steven Holwerda is one year of probation, a 430-dollar civil fine, and payment of 652-dollars restitution.
