This past week, the National Mississippi River Museum welcomed new stingrays to their Delta. In December, eight stingrays died as the result of an alarm malfunction which failed to alert staff to an issue with the tank’s super saturation levels. Only one cownose ray survived the accident. The River Museum has since replaced the alarm system.
On Wednesday, staff welcomed the additional Cownose Rays, raised in human care, from a regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums accredited facility.
The Delta remained closed until Friday while the animals adjusted to the new environment and is now open for viewing capabilities
