Regular gas was sold at the lowest price of $3.99 per gallon at five gas stations in Iowa County during the week ending Oct. 3, according to customer reports submitted to GasBuddy.
Regular gas prices averaged $4.06 per gallon in Iowa County.
GasBuddy reports show that regular gas was available at nine of the 16 reported gas stations in Iowa County.
The statewide average price of regular gas in Iowa was $4.13 per gallon for the week ending Oct. 3, a decrease from the previous week.
The decline followed a volatile spring in energy markets, when analysts linked higher gasoline and diesel prices to rising crude oil prices and concerns about supply disruptions tied to the conflict involving Iran and the Strait of Hormuz.
Crude oil and fuel prices rose during the third quarter of 2026 amid disruptions to Middle Eastern supplies, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. U.S. refineries operated at an average 95% of capacity, yet the average gasoline crack spread, a measure of refining margins, more than doubled from a year earlier as global fuel supplies tightened. U.S. gasoline inventories were 7% below their 2021-25 average in late September, 2026.
Gas price data reflects cash payments. Some stations may charge higher prices for credit card transactions due to processing fees, though such surcharges are prohibited in some states and territories.
