An Iowa City man accused of masturbating and urinating in public in a Coralville apartment complex parking lot has reached a plea deal.
64-year-old Robert Gerard of Esther Court was allegedly seen exposing his genitals and masturbating in front of a witness at the Iowa Lodge on the Coralville Strip just before 11:30 on the night of August 30th, 2025. He also reportedly urinated in the public lot, and later admitted to it.
Arriving officers say they found Gerard riding a bicycle on a public trail, almost hitting pedestrians. Police say he showed signs of intoxication and refused breath testing.
Gerard was charged with Indecent Exposure and Public Intoxication. If convicted on both counts, he would have faced a maximum of 13 months in jail. But online records show Gerard reached a plea deal earlier this week, and sentencing is now set for November 12th.
