Poweshiek County, Iowa, typical home value rises 7.9% to $226,600 in August 2026

In Poweshiek County, Iowa, the value of a typical home was $226,600 for August 2026, according to Zillow. That was up 7.9%, or $16,617, from $209,982 in August 2025. The figure also increased 0.4% from $225,669 in July 2026.

The Zillow Home Value Index measures the typical home value and market changes across a given region and housing type. It reflects the typical value of homes in the 35th to 65th percentile. This article uses Zillow’s smoothed, seasonally adjusted All Homes series, which includes single-family homes, condominiums and co-ops with a county record.

Home values for both single-family homes and condos and co-ops rose over the year in Poweshiek County. Condos and co-ops saw the largest increase, rising 12.7%, while single-family home values rose 8%.

Among the 99 Iowa counties and county equivalents with Zillow home value data for August 2026, Poweshiek County had the 34th-highest typical home value. The county’s figure was lower than the statewide typical home value of $239,547, which was up 2.9% from August 2025. It also remained below the national figure of $368,697, up 0.2% from a year earlier; the difference with the U.S. value was $142,097.

U.S. single-family house prices were 33.4% higher in the second quarter of 2026 than five years earlier, according to the FHFA House Price Index. Prices increased 2.1% from the second quarter of 2025 and 0.3% from the first quarter of 2026. The figures are based on FHFA’s seasonally adjusted, purchase-only index.
