Marshall County schools enrolled 299 Asian students in the 2024-25 school year, down 8% from the previous year, according to the Iowa Department of Education.
Data showed that Marshall County enrolled 6,583 students in the 2024-25 school year. Asian students made up 4.5% of the student body, the county’s third-largest ethnic group.
Of the county’s 17 schools, Marshalltown High School had the largest number of Asian students in the 2024-25 school year, with 85 enrolled.
Iowa’s certified K-12 enrollment edged down in the 2025-26 school year, according to the Iowa Department of Education. Total certified enrollment across public and accredited nonpublic schools fell 0.9% to 515,221 students. Enrollment in public districts and charter schools dropped 1.53% to 473,329, while accredited nonpublic school enrollment increased 6.4% to 41,892.
The department also reported that 41,044 students used Students First Education Savings Accounts at accredited nonpublic schools as of the Oct. 1 certified enrollment date.
