A 911 caller reported someone being held at gunpoint while traveling on Highway 13 early Thursday.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says they received the 911 call around 6:45 am, with the caller stating that someone was being held at gunpoint at an unknown location in Linn County.
The 911 caller was receiving text messages from a friend and relaying this information to the Linn County Dispatchers. As the call continued, the caller told the dispatcher that her friend was in a vehicle and traveling south on Highway 13 between Central City and Marion, and the caller also stated that the gunman was in the vehicle.
Linn County Deputies were assisted by Iowa State Patrol and the Marion Police Department in locating the vehicle near the intersection of Highway 151 at Highway 13 and because of the nature of the call a “felony stop” was conducted and three individuals were detained that were in the vehicle. A firearm was located in the vehicle and the occupants all denied having possession of the firearm.
The occupants of the vehicle did not cooperate with the investigation, and no one wanted to file any charges in this case. 45-year old Seandon Hodges of Cedar Rapids was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for a rabies vaccination violation and the other people in the vehicle were released. The firearm was seized, and the Linn County Sheriff’s Office is conducting further investigation as to who the owner of the firearm is or who had possession of the weapon.
