An altercation stemming from a dog defecating on someone’s front lawn has led to a weapon charge against a North Liberty woman.

Just before 7pm Monday, 30-year-old Crystal Harper of East Jefferson street got into a verbal dispute with the victim and the victim’s child after their dog defecated on her front lawn.

As the dispute continued, Harper allegedly went to their SUV and retrieved a 9mm handgun from the glove box. She then pointed the pistol at the victim.

When officers arrived, Harper was reportedly still holding the firearm, although it was pointed at the ground.

Harper was taken into custody and charged with Assault while Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison term of up to two years if convicted.
