The Lenox School Board approved work to the baseball field and hiring of a different auditing firm at their monthly meeting on September 9.
The board reviewed work for the baseball field. Infield work includes taking off existing surface, re-level, and seed at a cost of $5,000. Outfield work includes leveling and reseeding at a cost of $2,500. Most of the cost is material and equipment. Clint Crill, Michael West and Trevor Luther will donate their labor for the project. Without the donated labor, the project cost could be $20,000 to $25,000.
Bids from two auditing firms were presented to the board. The company that has been doing the auditing, Nolte, Cornman and Johnson, P.C. gave a bid of $18,500 for FY 26; $19,000 for FY 27; and $19,500 for FY 28. The second bid was from Barr and Company. The bid is $16,000 for years 2026, 2027, and 2028. The board approved to go with the new company, Barr and Company.
A revision to the human resources handbook was approved to reflect the addition of an assistant boys’ and girls’ bowling coach at a stipend of $1,904.
Funraisers were okayed for FCCLA selling freezer meals, pies and holding a bake sale with proceeds going to support state and district events. Elementary Student Council will be selling daisy chains to purchase council supplies.
Evan Baldwin was hired as assistant bowling coach and Angie Jenkins was hired as elementary special education paraeducator.
Other policies approved included a change in filing place for school board candidates. Nomination papers will be filed with the Taylor County Auditor instead of with the school board secretary.
