An area transient was arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly assaulting a woman.
According to police, the incident occurred at the Wayne Avenue apartment of the victim. 40-year-old Belinda Sigbury allegedly put her hand around the woman’s neck and applied pressure. The victim then fell into a wall.
During the reported assault, Sigbury allegedly said that she was going to kill the victim and burn her apartment building down.
The victim complained of pain on the left side of her stomach and suffered redness and scratches to her neck.
Sigbury was taken into custody and charged with assault causing bodily injury and 1st degree harassment. If convicted on both counts, she could be sentenced to up to three years in prison.
