An area transient faces decades in prison after allegedly stealing lottery tickets from an Iowa City drug store and cashing in the winners.

According to court records, 45-year-old Michael Jasso was at the CVS store in the Old Capital Center the afternoon of September 19th and stole 26 $100,000 Cash Bonus tickets from behind the counter.

Jasso reportedly cashed winning tickets at the Waterfront HyVee.

A warrant was issued last Thursday, and he was taken into custody. Jasso faces six counts of forgery or theft of lottery tickets, 3rd degree Burglary and 3rd degree Theft. If convicted on all counts, Jasso could be sentenced to up to 37 years in prison.
