Two Vintage pop-ups set for stops in Ames

As new and returning Cyclones make their way to Ames, so do two vintage pop-up events.

Iowa Vintage Fest and Campus Flea will both be in Ames as the first week of the 2026-27 academic year wraps up.

Iowa Vintage Fest – Aug. 29

The first of the two will be hosted by Iowa Vintage Fest, which is a vintage clothing pop-up created by Square One Vintage, which is out of Cedar Falls, Iowa and the Illinois Vintage Fest.

This group created traveling vintage fests to reduce fast fashion in an effort to support the planet.

The event is set to take place at North Grand Mall, which is located at 2801 Grand Ave, Ames, Iowa 50010.

According to the fest’s social media promotions and posts, the event is set to have 50+ vendors available.

The event is free for all to attend, with the hours set for 11 a.m to 5 p.m on Aug. 29.

Campus Flea – Aug. 27

The second pop-up is set to take place on Iowa State’s campus at the Memorial Union (MU).

Des Moines Flea, a vintage pop-up shop in Des Moines, is widening its appeal with “Campus Flea” by featuring stops in college towns in Iowa.

The Des Moines Flea claims itself as the first vintage pop-up in the Des Moines Metro.

Their home base is located at 506 E 6th St, Suite 200 in Des Moines. Their home base hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 12-6.

The shop emphasizes 1980’s and Y2K or year 2000 fashion by having an additional page dedicated strictly to these categories.

The stop in Ames is set for Aug. 27 in the Great Hall at the MU from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The group’s social media promotions mention that 1980s, Y2K fashion, vintage Iowa State gear, vinyls and other accessories are their main product groups available.

Additionally, the group has promoted its $5-10 racks as affordable options.
