A fire at a Davenport gas station was ruled to have been intentionally set.

According to a release from Davenport Fire Department, on October 3 at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Davenport Fire Department received a call from the Scott Emergency Communications Center (SECC) for a structure fire. The fire was at the Kwik Star in the 1200 block of E. Kimberly Rd.

Per reports, witnesses called 911 and reported a fire burning near a liquid propane storage cage outside the building. A witness used a fire extinguisher to knock down most of the fire. Fire crews arrived on scene and found light smoke coming from the propane storage cage. Firefighters used a small amount of water to fully extinguish the fire. Firefighters remained on scene to interview the witnesses and investigate the fire.

Firefighters discovered there were signs the fire was intentionally set. During the fire investigation, woman who matched the description of a suspect returned to the scene. She threatened police officers with a knife and tried to set fire to the gas pumps. Police officers were able to subdue the suspect and place her in custody.

Deanne Chanee, 57, was booked into the Scott County Jail on charges of arson 1st and 2nd degree, assault on a police officer, criminal mischief 3rd degree, interference with a weapon and interference with official acts.
